Somos CaPAZes’ vision of peace involves the practice of respect for all beings and for the environment. Our Social and Environmental Responsibility Verification Committee assures that we are walking our talk when it comes to CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) principles. The following are the basic CSR principles that we guide ourselves by. We ask that you also think about social and environmental responsibility in your daily activities and in the management of your business. Social and Environmental Responsibility

We will look to always get our products and contract any outside service we may need from businesses and producers that respect the environment. This respect for the environment will be visible through the environmentally-friendly practices of these entities and individuals, such as the use and/or production of: recycled and recyclable materials, recycling systems, sustainable materials that replace wood, organic products, carbon offsetting, the promotion of respect for the environment, among other practices that reveal a solid commitment to the environment.

Support for environmentally responsible companies and producers

We will look to always get our products and contract any outside service we may need from businesses and producers that respect the human rights of their workers and the community, giving importance to the economic, cultural, social, educational, health and security situations of these people, and limiting the workday to the number of hours considered healthy within the particular industry, among other factors which demonstrate the treatment of workers, their families and communities with justice and dignity. These providers will neither employ child nor forced labour, nor will they discriminate based on race, gender, creed or religion, background, skin colour, disability, income, place of residence, nationality, marital status, sexual preference, health conditions or any other form of diversity in their employee selection process and in their contracted services selection process, and they will respect their workers’ rights to freedom of association in unions and other groups.

Support for socially responsible companies and producers

All the paper we use for brochures, memos, letters and for office use in general shall be environmentally-friendly. At the moment our research indicates that the paper that best meets this description in Colombia is Reprograf, by Propal S.A., produced in Colombia of sugar cane fibre. Other paper, like cardboard boxes, large sheets for posters, special paper for business cards and other uses shall be as environmentally-friendly as possible. For Colombia, at the moment we approve the use of these paper products when manufactured by Propal S.A. and Smurfit Kappa Cartón de Colombia.  When not absolutely necessary, we will look to use papers that are not covered in adhesive, gloss, or other finishes that tend to be toxic, non-recyclable and non-biodegradable.

We commit ourselves to using natural light as often as possible, and when not possible, using fluorescent bulbs, turning off lights when we leave a room and turning off computer monitors when we’re not using them, among other ways to reduce our use of energy in our daily work for Somos CaPAZes.
