Emilie is the founder and president of Somos CaPAZes.

She arrived to Colombia in 2005 with her husband, Jorge Vargas, with the vision of starting up a Colombian and Latin American version of Peace by PEACE (Playful Explorations in Active Conflict-resolution Education), a program with which she had volunteered while attending the University of Toronto, Canada.

She holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto, with majors in Iberoamerican Studies and History, and a postgraduate Specialization in Conflict Resolution from the Faculty of Political Sciences and International Relations at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia.

Young María Ángela

María Ángela received her degree in Literary Studies from the Universidad Javeriana, Bogotá, in 2004. Since then she has been working as a style editor, copywriter and researcher. She has worked with various editorial houses and is currently beginning master’s studies abroad to further her professional development in the editorial field.

María Ángela is helping Somos CaPAZes with style correction, research and text adaptation.

This is her first experience as a volunteer.
